Katie Baker is an artist living, and maintaining a studio, in Covington, Kentucky. She received her MFA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2012, and has since worked with thousands of contemporary works of art by artists from all across the United States and beyond while serving as Exhibition Coordinator and Curatorial Assistant at Manifest Gallery. She teaches at the Manifest Drawing Center.
Her artistic practice is based in drawing. She works primarily from observation, with a focus on trompe-l'œil and a formal examination of both real and illusory surfaces. This practice allows her to investigate ideas around longing, fear, faith, and deception through her own deeply biased perception.
She’s a personal fan of birds, bats, and is ok with ghosts.
